In short

Mitchell Metals fabricated and installed a bus stop cover at Fieldcrest Acres in Blountville, Tennessee, for D.R. Horton East Tennessee. The structure measures 7′ 6″ x 22′ 2″ in Bronze on 4×6 extruded aluminum posts and beams, and joins two back-to-back CBU covers already installed in the same community.

Overview

The third structure in the same community

Fieldcrest Acres is a D.R. Horton community on Chimney View Loop in Blountville, Tennessee, in Sullivan County. Mitchell Metals had already installed two back-to-back CBU covers here — one serving the single-family homes, one serving the townhomes. The bus stop cover is the third structure.

Our contact here is Caleb Gouge, the same contact as Keebler Meadows in Johnson City, forty miles down the road. That relationship is now running past two years and several communities.

Why a builder comes back for the third structure

The first cover is a purchase. The second is a decision that the first one worked. The third is a default — the builder has stopped evaluating and started specifying. That is the position worth being in, and it is only reachable by the first two going in without drama.

What a covered bus stop actually says

It is a small structure with a disproportionate signal. A covered bus stop tells a family touring the community that the developer thought about the school-morning routine and not only the floor plans. It keeps children out of the rain in a part of Tennessee that gets a good deal of it, and it photographs well in every listing.

At 7′ 6″ x 22′ 2″ on 4×6 posts it is sized to hold a group of children and a couple of waiting parents under cover, in a flat profile that sits quietly along the street rather than announcing itself.

The frame is extruded aluminum, so nothing rusts. It is engineered to ASCE 7-16 wind and snow loads and designed to meet ADA and IBC requirements.

Why these specs were chosen

Bus stop cover, not a mail cover. Same pre-engineered aluminum system, different job — shelter for children and waiting parents at the school pickup point.

7′ 6″ x 22′ 2″. Long enough to hold a group under cover, deep enough that they are actually dry.

Flat configuration. A quiet profile that sits along the street rather than announcing itself — appropriate for a structure in front of people’s homes.

4×6 posts and beams. Correct for a twenty-two-foot span, and matched to the scale of the community’s other structures.

The structure is a flat CBU mail kiosk cover measuring 7′ 6″ x 22′ 2″, finished in Bronze. Posts and beams are 4×6 extruded aluminum. It is rated for ASCE 7-16 wind and snow loads and designed to meet ADA and IBC requirements.

It shelters children and waiting parents at the school pickup point, and it signals that the developer considered the school-morning routine rather than only the floor plans. It is a small structure with an outsized effect on how a community presents — and it appears in every listing photograph taken from that street.

Routinely. Fieldcrest Acres has three: two back-to-back CBU covers, one for the single-family homes and one for the townhomes, plus this bus stop cover. Built from the same pre-engineered system in the same finish, they read as one set of community architecture rather than three separate purchases.
