Overview

A small community, and a long relationship

Foxtrail is a small single-family community on South Main Street in Jonesboro, Georgia, in Clayton County. The developer is Templar Development, and Mitchell Metals has worked with them for many years across the south metro.

What a repeat client actually buys

On a first project a builder is buying a structure and taking a risk on the supplier. On the tenth they are buying the absence of that risk. Foxtrail is a six-box kiosk in a small community — the kind of job that is only worth doing well if doing it well is the default rather than an effort. The specification was settled in a conversation, not a procurement exercise.

Twelve by twelve on 6×6 posts, Bronze, gable, supplied with the boxes. That is the configuration that suits a community of this size, and it is the one Templar has seen work before. There is no innovation on this page. That is the point of it.

Small communities deserve the detail too

The exposed truss in the gable end is not structurally necessary at twelve feet. It is there because a mail kiosk is one of the few shared structures in a small community, and residents walk to it several times a week. A flat canopy would have carried the same boxes. It would not have given the community anything to look at.

The frame is extruded aluminum, so nothing rusts. It is engineered to ASCE 7-16 wind and snow loads and designed to meet ADA and IBC requirements, with cluster box placement following the USPS Builders/Developers Guide.

Why these specs were chosen

Gable configuration. Pitched roof with an exposed truss in the gable end — the shared structure in a small community should be worth looking at.

12′ x 12′. Six boxes with room to open a door and stand clear. The standard footprint for a community of this size.

6×6 posts and beams. Heavier than twelve feet strictly requires, and proportionate to a structure meant to look permanent.

Turnkey supply. Boxes and cover together. On a small job the coordination saving is proportionally larger, not smaller.

For a community in the range of twenty to fifty homes, yes. A 12' x 12' gable holds six cluster box units — around ninety mailbox compartments depending on unit type — with enough depth that a resident can open a box door without standing in the walk. Communities beyond that move to a longer run.

Routinely. The customer on a mail kiosk is often the land developer rather than the home builder, because the mail center is part of the horizontal scope that goes in before the houses do. Foxtrail was delivered for Templar Development. Call 470-870-7733 for residential projects.
