Overview

A first order, and then several more

Tessa Sugar Hill is a townhome community on Bailey Avenue in Sugar Hill, Georgia, in Gwinnett County north-east of Atlanta. The developer came to Mitchell Metals new in 2026 and has placed several further orders for canopies and cluster box units since.

What the second order means

Winning a first project is a sales result. Winning the second is a verdict on the first — it means the structure arrived when it was meant to, fitted what was already on site, and did not generate a week of phone calls. That is the only review worth having in this business, and it is the reason this page says more about the sequence than the structure.

Eight cluster box units in a single uninterrupted run, cantilevered so nothing stands in front of the boxes. At twenty-six feet it is the same structure as Ashwood Springs in southwest Atlanta — not a coincidence, but the point: the configuration that answers a townhome mail center with eight boxes is a solved problem, and solved problems are what make a second order easy to place.

Why cantilever for townhomes

Townhome sites run tight. The mail center usually lands between the kerb and the walk with a few feet either side, and a standard cover with posts in front of the boxes would make that approach awkward for a resident and worse for a carrier working the full run. A cantilever puts the single post line behind the boxes and leaves the frontage clear.

Supplied turnkey — cover and cluster box units together. The frame is extruded aluminum, so nothing rusts. It is engineered to ASCE 7-16 wind and snow loads and designed to meet ADA and IBC requirements, with cluster box placement following the USPS Builders/Developers Guide.

Why these specs were chosen

Cantilever configuration. One post line behind the boxes. On a tight townhome site the clear frontage is the whole argument.

8′ x 26′ 2″. Eight cluster box units in one uninterrupted run, at the depth cantilever geometry needs.

6×6 posts and beams. A cantilevered roof puts bending into its posts. 6×6 is the section that answers it at twenty-six feet.

Turnkey supply. Cover and boxes from one party — which is part of why the next order was easy to place.

Because townhome sites are tight. The mail center normally lands between the kerb and the walk with little room either side, and a cover with posts in front of the boxes makes the approach awkward for residents and slow for the delivery carrier. A cantilever carries the roof on one line of posts set behind the boxes, so the frontage stays clear.

Faster than a first one, because the specification is already settled. Once a developer has a configuration that works — finish, post section, box count, scope — a repeat order is a fabrication slot rather than a design exercise. Call 470-870-7733 for residential projects.
